The principal designer of Amalia Designs, Andrea Slappey, draws inspiration from life experiences to create sophisticated jewelry with an aesthetic that connects generations. Slappey finds crafting her creations to be an inspired process and her work often expresses subtle symbolism motivated by her surroundings and the materials at hand.
One of my favorite pieces is the XO Band Ring (also part of my personal collection!). The rings are inscribed with X’s and O’s to symbolize wholeness and partnership.
As an avid traveler, I also love The Traveler’s Lariat - which Andrea designed specifically for The Traveler’s Collection. The necklace includes three different sets of interchangeable gemstones. A 3-in-1 necklace to match every destination.
P.S. Hoping to receive something extra special for Valentine’s Day this year? Drop a not-so-subtle hint to your significant other by forwarding them your favorite pieces from Amalia Designs!

This year has been all about accessorizing the wrists and this fall is no different. For the fall, the colors tend to be more muted… but don’t forget color entirely! Neon colors surged on the spring ’12 runways. Plated metals are trending and are a great way to transition your wrist into a fall palette.
Aside from travel, one of my passions is cooking and learning how to recreate local dishes I have tasted while abroad. Nothing is more gratifying than mastering a dish and sharing it with friends and family… but since I can’t share these heavenly tastes with you, I’ll share the recipes instead! And with that, for [...]
